Bangkok Upcycled T Shirt – One of a Kind
This T shirt is part of the Bangkok Project, created after a trip to Thailand in January where I witnessed the scale of fast fashion waste across markets and street stalls. I returned with the decision to work directly with what was already being discarded and turn it into something worth keeping.
Each shirt in this collection was sourced from second hand markets and street vendors in Bangkok. They were originally marked as damaged, stained, stretched or unwanted. Instead of being thrown away they have been reworked by hand using a mix of repair and redesign techniques such as visible mending, painting, patching, bleaching, embroidery and deconstruction.
No two pieces are the same and nothing is mass produced. Every shirt is cleaned, restored and transformed into a one off wearable artwork. Purchasing from this collection supports my ongoing sustainability work, future tutorials, workshops and education around repair and reuse.
